Claim the tax-free threshold

Australian residents for tax purposes don't pay tax on the first $18,200 earned. Tell your employer to reduce withholding.

Without claiming the threshold, you're taxed from dollar one. That's extra tax taken from each pay.

    Question 9 asks if you want to claim the tax-free threshold

    Say 'yes' if you're an Australian resident for tax purposes

    Working Holiday Makers: you're NOT eligible for the threshold

Claim the threshold from ONE employer only. Claiming from multiple means you'll owe at tax time.
