Get a myki card for Melbourne transport

myki is Melbourne's public transport card. Use it on trains, trams, and buses across the city and regional Victoria.

Why this matters

You can't buy tickets on Melbourne trams. Without myki, you risk fines of over $200 for travelling without a valid ticket.

How to do it

How to do it

  1. 1

Buy a myki at train stations, 7-Eleven, or the PTV hub at Southern Cross Station

  2. 2

Top up at machines, retailers, or online

  3. 3

Touch on at the start of every trip

  4. 4

Touch off on trains and buses (not needed on trams in the Free Tram Zone)

The Free Tram Zone in Melbourne CBD means you don't need to touch on there. But touch on everywhere else!
