Understand the 6-month employer limit

Working Holiday Maker visa holders can only work for one employer for 6 months. This rule exists to encourage travel and variety.

Why this matters

Staying longer than 6 months with one employer breaches your visa conditions.

How to do it

How to do it

  1. 1

The 6-month limit is per employer, not per job

  2. 2

Work for a different employer after 6 months

  3. 3

Some exceptions exist for certain industries - check with Fair Work

  4. 4

Keep records of your employment dates

The 6 months doesn't reset if you leave and come back to the same employer.
